The Messy Truth About Business Transformation
"I feel like my business is crumbling."
That's the text I sent my husband about 45 minutes before I started writing this.
You ever have that experience where it feels like everything is falling apart all at once? I have this dream sometimes where I'm standing confidently on the ground, feet firmly planted, and then the ground starts caving in around me. I'm suspended in the air longer than possible before the freefall starts, painfully aware that it's about to begin.
It's felt a bit like that lately.
I came back from an event at the beginning of June truly changed. More clarity in my gifts, the work I actually want to do with people. More value for community and relationships. More connected to God, more connected to my purpose. I left feeling more like myself.
What I didn't anticipate was how much that inner shift would shake things up on the outside.
Transformation, quantum leaps, evolution, whatever you want to call it, is messy. People mystify and glamorize it. But really, the experience is funky, and clunky, and rooted in instability. Because stable things don't change.
It's a wild juxtaposition to sit inside of. The internal is on fire. The external looks like a construction zone. And my brain keeps trying to make logical sense out of all of it.
The temptation to run away shows up. Would it be easier to just shut it all down?
When I get quiet enough, when I stop trying to solve it and just breathe for a second, a different set of questions shows up. What if it's all working out for me? What if it all has to crumble to be rebuilt into something incredible? What if I'm supposed to lean on my husband right now because I'm learning to be supported? What if this is what learning to operate in a completely new way actually looks like? What if my resiliency is being built?
I have visions of my future that light me up and scare the daylights out of me at the same time. Growing our family. Writing books. Speaking on more stages. Building a full training program for my sales methodology. When I connect to that vision, I feel enlivened. And then one of my boys runs in mid-thought demanding I help him build a robot out of garbage, because apparently that's today's agenda. Welcome to running a business with kids home for the summer. If you know, you know.
Clearly, I don't feel like I have it all figured out right now. It feels very messy and complex. And I'm sharing this because I think most of us are carrying more mess than we let on, and if you're in the middle of something too, I want you to know:
It's okay to let things fall apart. It's okay to not have it figured out. It's okay to surrender to the mess.
What's held me steady while it all fell apart isn't a mindset trick. It's a handful of things I've had to learn the hard way, and keep relearning.
Relationships matter more than anything. Trying to navigate business, and life, with a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality is one of the slowest, most costly mistakes you can make.
Asking for help isn't enough, you have to be willing to receive it. I used to ask for help with maybe 10% willingness to actually let it in. Humble yourself. Ask. And actually receive it.
Good things take time. Overnight success doesn't exist. Our obsession with speed erodes the creative process. Slow down. Build real foundations. Pour into the relationships that will hold you when it feels like your business is crumbling around you.
Everything is always working out for you, even when it doesn't feel like it. Discomfort isn't bad. Diamonds are grown under pressure.
Get in rooms where people are doing what you want to be doing. Entrepreneurship is lonely by default. The fastest way from where you are to where you want to be is surrounding yourself with people who've already done it.
Every one of these lessons is woven into Rainmaker, not as a slogan on a slide, but as the actual architecture of how the program runs.
I built it because I saw business owners struggling with sales and marketing and wanted an affordable place for them to learn and implement, with real support. What it's become is a community of genuinely talented, humble people showing up for each other. Sharing resources. Dividing and conquering on projects. Celebrating the wins and getting honest about the challenges.
Who Rainmaker Is For
This is for the service provider who is genuinely great at what they do but can't seem to get all of their prospective clients to see that.
Perhaps you're tired of holding back on the recommendation you know is right for someone because you're afraid they'll say it's too expensive.
Or maybe you're tired of hearing "let me think about it" and knowing you'll never hear from them again.
Or maybe you've been relying on inconsistent referrals to grow your business because you don't actually have a sales system, you have vibes.
Rainmaker is for service providers who are done trying to be convincing and ready to lead, who want to raise their rates without the guilt spiral, and who want $20k+ months without the hustle and burnout that used to feel like the only option.
